Sékou Touré, a committed communicator for over 20 years
Based in Bamako, I have spent more than twenty years supporting international organisations and NGO networks across West Africa. CARE International, GIZ, USAID programmes, ICRISAT and now FONGIM have entrusted me with their communication, advocacy and digital presence.
My career began in an agency, as a copywriter and graphic designer. It then moved to the heart of development projects: health, agriculture, climate, education and humanitarian action. There I learned to speak to very different audiences, from donors to beneficiaries, media and decision-makers.
Since May 2025, I have been Advocacy and Communication Manager at the Forum of International NGOs in Mali (FONGIM), which brings together 110 international NGOs.
My approach
- Start from the goal, not the tool. Every communication action serves a concrete change: a decision, a practice, a perception.
- Tell stories from the field. Real stories, told by the people concerned, convince better than slogans.
- Measure to improve. Digital tools show what works and allow quick adjustments.
- Pass it on. I train teams so that skills stay within the organisation.
